Backend Engineer - FinTech Asset Management Platform

About the Role

Our client is an online securities startup focused on making asset management accessible to everyone. They operate consumer-facing AI robo-advisor services and provide a SaaS-based asset management platform for financial institutions.

As they accelerate product development, they are seeking a Backend Engineer to contribute to growth across both B2C and B2B services. This is a full remote position open to candidates nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and operate features for B2C and B2B services
  • Build backend APIs for web services and smartphone applications
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders (with financial expertise), UX designers, and frontend engineers on specification design
  • Continuously improve microservices architecture and strengthen operations and monitoring
  • Evaluate and conduct PoCs for various libraries and tools
  • Work on new client onboarding projects for B2B products
  • Develop new features for B2B products (scheduled redemptions, etc.)
  • Drive efficiency and automation improvements in release processes and environment setup

  • **Language:** Scala
  • **Deploy/Batch:** ArgoCD/ArgoWF (EKS), Jenkins
  • **Version Control:** GitLab
  • **Communication:** Slack, Confluence, Jira, Zoom, Miro
  • **Design:** Figma
  • **Infrastructure:** AWS, DataDog, Terraform
  • **Other:** Code reviews and testing are mandatory; some teams also work on admin panels (TypeScript/Next.js); fully remote work principle with optional office visits for team bonding

Requirements

  • 3+ years of web application development experience
  • Experience with team development using Git

Nice to Have

  • Web application development experience with Scala, Java, Go, or similar languages
  • Development and operations experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc.)
  • Interest in areas outside your primary domain
  • Passion for improving products and teams
  • Proactive attitude toward challenges
  • Mindset that values team success in addition to individual achievement

**Note:** Scala experience is not required - you can learn on the job. The team consists of members with different strengths who complement each other.
