Backend Engineer - Social Impact SaaS for Child Welfare

About the Role

Our client, a fast-growing social impact SaaS company, is seeking a Backend Engineer to work on their platform supporting child welfare services at municipal government agencies across Japan. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to solving one of Japan's most critical social issues while working on a comprehensive technology modernization initiative.

The company provides a DX platform that helps child welfare professionals at child guidance centers (児童相談所) manage cases more efficiently, share information seamlessly via tablets, and make better-informed decisions using AI-powered risk analysis based on historical data.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications using PHP/FuelPHP
• Design and build new applications using Python/Django
• Lead the architectural transformation from legacy monolithic systems to modern, scalable microservices architecture
• Build infrastructure using AWS/GCP managed services and implement CI/CD pipelines
• Design and develop APIs, including integration with IDaaS solutions (SSO, SAML, OpenID Connect)
• Work closely with non-engineering team members to understand child welfare workflows and translate them into technical solutions

Required Qualifications

• Professional development experience with PHP and Python
• Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar relational databases
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with non-technical team members
• Native-level Japanese proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Web application development experience using PHP frameworks
• Django web application development experience
• API design/development and SSO implementation knowledge (SAML, OpenID Connect)
• Cloud development experience with AWS/GCP and CI/CD implementation
• Experience handling data for government or public sector systems
• Team development experience using Git
• Local development experience using Docker

Work Arrangements

具体的な業務

• PHP/FuelPHPを用いたアプリケーションの開発・保守
• Python/Djangoを用いたアプリケーションの設計・新規開発
• モダンなアーキテクチャ(マイクロサービス化など)の実現に向けた設計・既存環境の改修・実装
• AWS/GCPなどのマネージドサービスを活用した基盤構築およびCI/CDの実装
• APIの設計・開発、およびIDaaS(Single Sign-On連携等)との連携支援
• エンジニア以外のメンバーと協力し、児童福祉業務フローの理解と技術的な解決策の提案

必須条件

• PHP・PythonおよびMySQL/PostgreSQL等のデータベースを用いた開発経験
