Forward Deployed Engineer (Optimization Solutions)

About the Role

We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join a fast-growing optimization AI company that delivers practical solutions to complex industrial planning challenges. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, consulting, and domain expertise—bringing optimization algorithms directly to operational environments in energy, manufacturing, transportation, and logistics.

As an FDE, you will work closely with clients across major infrastructure and industrial sectors, embedding yourself in their operations to understand constraints, formulate optimization problems, prototype solutions, and deploy them into production. This is not a desk-bound role: you will spend time on-site with customers, collaborating with domain experts and executives to solve problems that have combinatorial complexity exceeding 10^720 possibilities.

Responsibilities

• Engage directly with clients in energy, transportation, manufacturing, and logistics sectors to uncover operational challenges
• Translate business requirements into mathematically sound optimization problems
• Design and implement heuristic and combinatorial optimization algorithms tailored to specific industry constraints
• Build prototypes and validate solutions in real operational contexts
• Deploy production-grade software that integrates into existing workflows and systems
• Measure impact, iterate on solutions, and feed insights back into the platform and organization
• Collaborate across internal teams including algorithm engineers, product managers, and business development
• Work within industry-specific teams (Energy/Shipping, Transportation, Manufacturing, or New Verticals)

Requirements

• Proven software engineering experience with production-grade implementation skills
• Experience defining requirements through dialogue with customers, business owners, or stakeholders
• Ability to design software architecture based on defined requirements
• Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in ambiguous, unstructured environments
• Interest in working at the intersection of technology and real-world operations
• Willingness to engage with domain experts and executives as an equal partner
• Preference for delivering operational value over purely elegant technical solutions

Nice to Have

• Experience as a tech lead or engineering lead
• Domain experience or research background in energy, manufacturing, chemical, logistics, infrastructure, or rail industries
• Practical experience implementing heuristic optimization or combinatorial optimization algorithms
• Active participation in competitive programming (e.g., AtCoder)
• Experience launching products or businesses from zero to one
• Actuarial certification or academic background in mathematical sciences
• Hands-on experience applying mathematical optimization, machine learning, or simulation in production environments

What We Offer

• Annual salary: ¥8,000,000 – ¥18,000,000 (including semi-annual bonuses)

業務内容

• エネルギー、運輸、製造、物流などの産業顧客の現場に入り、業務課題を深く理解する
• 業務要件を数理最適化問題として組み立て、定式化する
• 業界固有の制約に対応したヒューリスティック最適化・組合せ最適化アルゴリズムの設計と実装
• プロトタイプを作成し、実際の運用環境で検証する
• 既存の業務フローやシステムに組み込める形で本番品質のソフトウェアを実装・デプロイする
• 効果測定を行い、知見を組織とプロダクト基盤にフィードバックする
• アルゴリズムエンジニア、プロダクトマネージャー、事業開発などの社内チームと連携する
• インダストリー別チーム(エネルギー・配船、運輸、製造業、新規業界)に所属し、業界特化型のソリューション開発を推進する

• 顧客や事業責任者などステークホルダーとの対話を通じた要件定義・要求定義の経験
• 要件に基づくアーキテクチャ設計の経験

• テックリードとしての業務経験
• エネルギー、製造、化学、物流、インフラ、鉄道分野での実務経験または研究経験
• ヒューリスティック最適化、組合せ最適化の実装経験
• 競技プログラミング(AtCoder等)でのアクティビティ
• ゼロイチでのプロダクト立ち上げ・新規事業立ち上げ経験
• アクチュアリー資格、または数理科学系のアカデミックバックグラウンド
• 数理最適化、機械学習、シミュレーションのいずれかを実務で活用した経験

待遇・環境

• 想定年収:800万円〜1,800万円(賞与年2回含む)
