Senior Engineering Manager, AI for Application

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our AI Application Engineering team. This is a strategic role for a leader who can drive the development and deployment of AI-powered applications that transform manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for building and managing a high-performing engineering team while defining technical strategy and ensuring successful product delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the AI Application Engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation
• Define and execute technical strategy for AI-powered application development
• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of production AI systems
• Collaborate with product, data science, and business teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions
• Establish engineering best practices, development processes, and quality standards
• Drive technical decision-making on architecture, tooling, and infrastructure
• Mentor and develop engineers, supporting their career growth
• Partner with stakeholders to align technical roadmap with business objectives

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in engineering management
• Strong technical background in application development and system architecture
• Experience building and scaling engineering teams
• Proven track record of delivering production AI/ML applications
• Deep understanding of modern software development practices and methodologies
• Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English
• Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking
• Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments

Nice to Have

• Experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise software
• Background in manufacturing, supply chain, or operations technology
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Familiarity with modern AI/ML frameworks and tools
• Experience scaling engineering organizations through rapid growth phases
• Technical background in data engineering or MLOps
